Hotshot

First in the Boxelder Ranch series: Fort Rollins, Colorado, 1948: Betsy Rollins, a retired court clerk forced to take over the family ranch when her two brothers died suddenly, is sick and tired of her neighbor trying to drive her off her land. The last straw comes when a small herd of nursing cows and their calves are stolen, and she’s out to get her cattle back. When she finds her neighbor shot dead, she knows she’s going to be on the top of the list of suspects. Enter Bill Thompson, the local police chief. Recently arrived from Chicago, he’s anxious to solve the crime and put the nosy rancherwoman in her place. Can they cooperate long enough to find the murderer, or will they end up killing each other?
